ACRDC ACTIVITIES
From 2013 to the present day, the team that formed around the founder of ACRDC, Haris Xanthoudakis, has worked to highlight the material of the Athens Conservatoire’s Archive by organizing exhibitions, lectures, concerts, etc. Here, we present the most noteworthy of these activities.

“The Multifaced Nikos Skalkottas,”
An exhibition featuring material from the historical archive of the Athens Conservatoire and the Chourmouzios-Papaioannou Foundation Archive.
The exhibition was accompanied by a conference and a concert-dance performance dedicated to Skalkottas.
March 12, 2019 | EXHIBITION, General State Archives “Exhibition and Concert in Memory of Nikolaos Dikaios,” in collaboration with the General State Archives. The exhibition featured a concert by Flex, a guest ensemble at the Athens Conservatoire.
February 1 - March 2, 2019 | EXHIBITION, Athens Conservatoire “The books of the Athens Conservatoire Archive”. An exhibition of printed or manuscript books (from the 16th century to the present) from the Archives of the Athens Conservatoire and the Chourmouzios-Papaioannou Foundation.
January 19, 2019 | CONCERT, Athens Conservatoire Concert featuring the 30 Mélodies Populaires de Grèce et d'Orient by Louis-Albert Bourgault-Ducoudray, supported by the initiative “Athens World Book Capital - 2018.”

THE PERIODICAL PUBLICATION NEOS MOUSIKOS ELLINOMNIMON
The Athens Conservatoire Research and Documentation Centre, in collaboration with the Hellenic Music Research Laboratory of the Ionian University, has launched the quarterly musicological journal Neos Mousikos Ellinomnimon. This publication is a continuation of the journal Mousikos Ellinomnimon, which was published by the Hellenic Music Research Laboratory at the Ionian University from 2008 to 2015.
In its new phase, and thanks to the partnership with the Music House Marios Nikolaidis, the journal aims to highlight issues related to Greek musical activities, Greek composers, Greek works, and the musical life in our homeland, with significantly expanded and enriched content. It is the only journal worldwide that specializes in issues of Greek music creation and practice. Neos Mousikos Ellinomnimon is sold in bookstores, while an annual subscription option is also available.

ATHENS CONSERVATOIRE PUBLISHING SERIES
The Athens Conservatoire Research and Documentation Centre, within the framework of its research activities, has launched a series of publications focused on research in the field of Greek music, aiming to reconstruct our musical and cultural history through primary archival and other sources.
The publishing activities will cover a broad range of topics, such as the history of modern Greek music through studies and historical documentation, music theory and aesthetics, music education, while it will also include scores and encyclopedic works.
Evangelia A. Chaldaiaki, K.A. Psachos and His Contribution in the Recording and Study of Greek Folk Songs (2018)
Utilizing the invaluable collection of documents that make up the history of our modern Greek music in the 19th and 20th centuries, the Athens Conservatoire published the first book in its “Studies” series. This is Evangelia Chaldaiaki’s book K.A. Psachos and His Contribution in the Recording and Study of Greek Folk Songs, with a preface by the Ecumenical Patriarch.

The three-volume History of Music in Modern Greece presents, for the first time, a comprehensive account of the musical activity in Greece from the period after the Fall of Constantinople (1453) until the dawn of the 21st century. Previous histories or studies about the music of modern Greece have been fragmented, both chronologically and thematically, usually focusing on presenting composers, works, and institutions, and leaving out a comprehensive overview of modern Greek musical life and creation. Panos Vlagkopoulos, "Vlepeis xene file mou den lismono ta tragoudia" ["You See, My Foreign Friend, I Do Not Forget the Songs"] From Haxthausen to Vinée, or One Hundred Years of Western European Views on Greek Folk Songs (2022)
This book consists of the publication of five Western European collections of harmonized folk songs. The musical part is accompanied by introductions to the collections and texts related to the interest exhibited by early European intellectuals, such as Johann Gottfried Herder, in the people and their culture, specifically focusing on Greek folk songs (understood as both text and music). Of the five collections presented here, only one is relatively well-known (that of Bourgault-Ducoudray), while the other four are being presented for the first time: those of Werner von Haxthausen (1780-1843)...
Kostis Demertzis, Parallel Texts on Skalkottas (2020)
Kostis Demertzis is one of the oldest and most knowledgeable scholars of Nikos Skalkottas. His doctoral dissertation on Skalkottas Orchestration, published as a large-format book in 1998, is essentially the first scholarly monograph on the great, internationally acclaimed Greek composer. Since then, Demertzis has continued to study Skalkottas, publishing numerous articles (studies, reviews, conference papers, lectures, notes) in the newspapers Proodeftiki Evia and Kathimerini Evia.
